Whitman College, Princeton University

CLIENT:Whitman College, Princeton university

BRIEF:To create a vertical wall sundial for Whitman College, a new residential college at Princeton university. David Harber was chosen to create a customised design to specifications provided by Porphyrios Associates, the architects of Whitman College.

SOLUTION:A contemporary yet classical dial designed to blend in with Princeton's existing architecture and that of the new building.

Using traditional mathematics, strips of classical bronze were positioned fractionally off the wall, with straight lines indicating the hours and lines to show the summer and winter solstices and the spring and autumn equinox.
