Raffles Hotel, Dubai

BRIEF: Design, build and deliver an inspirational public sculpture for the Earth Garden — part of a one hectare Singapore-inspired botanic garden located on the third floor roof of the new Raffles Hotel in Dubai. This unique garden in the sky features four art sculptures, each reflecting one of the essential elements of Water, Wind, Earth and Fire.
SOLUTION: A mirror-polished stainless steel representation of the Earth's mass and its fragility under the weight of humankind. The material was chosen for its reflective qualities and its ability to withstand the harsh climatic conditions and pitting from wind-borne sand.
The finished public art was shipped to Dubai. Installation was by local contractors.
