A sculptor's doodle

David Harber has been experimenting with the structure of his Portal garden sculpture in a sculptor's version of a doodle and come up with the powerful ancient looking sculpture shown in the photos below.

Jurassic portal In tribute to its Stone Age appearance, we have called the experiment the Jurassic Portal.

The Jurassic Portal is made all of stainless steel instead of the more familiar Portal organically mixed from two metals — stainless and oxidised steel.

The sculpture is a one-off, a striking result of David Harber playing around with some extra material and some sculptural ideas.

The distinctive speckled pattern comes from etchings onto the stainless steel.

The stainless steel Portal has also been roughly notched around the edge, contributing to the fierce stone age look of the piece.
