Martin's Properties wanted to commemorate the life of one of its founders, Peter Martin, for whom gardens had been a lifelong passion. Tom Martin said of the Chalice water feature in the memorial project, "It was fitting, when working with Robert Myers, that we were able to incorporate this elegant, functional and calming piece by David Harber, to be a focal point in a corner of reflection and tranquillity in the regenerated garden."

The gardens themselves were designed as a new communal space for the residents of this central London development and comprise a series of raised circular planters, spaces for informal recreation and an access route into the building.
