Zabeel Park, Dubai

BRIEF: Design and construction of three major outdoor sculptures for Zabeel Park, the largest public park in the area. This was a commision from Al Khatib Cracknell, one of the largest landscape architects in the Middle East.

SOLUTION: David developed three new sculptures that relate to each other and to Zabeel Park.

One sculpture - inspired by the area’s relationship with the origin of chess - combined mirror-polished stainless steel with copper to form a Rubik-like cube.

We travelled to Dubai to manage the installation and alignment of the sculptures and the sundial using local contractors.

CONCLUSION: A successful collaboration on a major installation. The sculptures were installed on time, on budget and to the complete satisfaction of the client.

‘’ Al Khatib Cracknell were impressed with the quality of the workmanship exhibited in David’s sculptures which was considered particularly important due to the harsh climatic conditions.’’
Paul Cracknell, Principal Landscape Architect
