House & Garden Awards 2025

A chance meeting between David Harber’s Creative Director Lior Kristal and Hatta Byng, EIC of House & Garden, has led to a collaborative project to design a striking award which was presented to the winners of the prestigious House & Garden Design Awards at Christie’s Auction House in London on 24th April 2025. The awards celebrate creativity and innovation within garden and interior design.

After discussing a few concepts with the House & Garden team, we landed on an idea Lior named Doodle. While drawing inspiration from the shape of the House & Garden ampersand, the design recognises the importance of drawing, and how initial concepts are often conceived through sketching. It’s organic, individual and can be unpredictable but key to our creative process. While the brain is absorbed in mindless play of putting pen to paper with or without conscious thinking, ideas and inspiration spark.

Sketching and model-making is a huge part of David Harber’s discovery and design process. Early origins of other ideas often inspire new pieces, and the progression of new work is a collaborative effort from first sketch in the design studio to final sign-off in the workshop. Trusting the process is key to allowing a new piece to take shape.

“It has been a true honour to have collaborated with Hatta and the H&G team on such a dynamic project, to celebrate the best in class within the garden and interior industry.”

David Harber’s Creative Director, Lior Kristal.

This exclusive award, made from a bronze remnant of David Harber’s iconic Armillary Sphere, is formed into a single-line, sketch-like shape, looping and intertwined to resemble the importance of mark making and the significance of the ampersand. Our innovative hot patination finish creates a mosaic of mottled earthy chestnut and copper hues.
