Often used in public art, it works well for abstract sculpture and custom modern sculpture because it’s so tough and offers designers versatility. Stainless steel is the hardest material we work with. It’s tough, durable and corrosion resistant, unlike more traditional bronze sculpture. We use high quality, marine-grade, stainless steel for almost all our sculptures and statement pieces. In harsh environments, when art pieces are located near the sea, for example, we use the extra corrosion resistant duplex grade as extra insurance against the effect of salt water.
Stainless steel art generally doesn’t develop any sort of patina like other metals such as bronze or copper. But it does need regular cleaning to retain its shine and mirror finish. We recommend using warm, clean water and a soft cloth. Stay away from chemical solutions and abrasive material as this will scratch and damage the surface of your stainless-steel statue.
